Missed opportunities Murray.

Yesterday's Qatar final was a real disappointment.  Disappointment that nothing went my way and disappointment in Andrew Murray not taking any of his 8 break point chances in the first set !  I can't be unhappy with my result though, even though I lost £xxxx on the match, I traded it well. I would do the same everytime and I know if I do so for the entire year I will do very nicely.

That really was the story of the match, Murray had him in the bag early but failed to take any of the big points.  In fact as I traded the match and switched sides a couple of times, both of them failed to take the big point whenever I wanted them to, sometimes that's how it goes.  But it's about being positioned to take advantage - giving something time to occur - and I'm fairly sure that 12-15 big points in a row won't go against me in every match !  Had 1 of those been taken I wouldn't have lost on the match, which to me means I was beating the market.  [-4.1%]

It's been a great first week of the year though, very much looking forward to the Aussie Open in a weeks time..  Going to have to check my listings to see if there is anything to do this week.

hi.i really liked the book, zen and the art of poker and was wondering had you any other recomendations that deal with psycology and staying on your 'a' game?

Just found you, nice site, very good info as to be expected from yourself! Anybody wanting to have a go at this game should take notice of your tales and heed the advice.

I thought the Murray final wasn't too bad, a number of the bigger points following expectations, although I do agree Murray lost it rather than Ljub winning it.

Good luck with the site, I'm gonna stay fairly quiet this week, looking forward to the Open though!

As an extra "reading list" item for those that are so inclined I'd add any of Ralph Vince's trio although "The New Money Management" includes all the decent info from his earlier two. Pick and choose bits from it though, there's a fair bit of fluff hiding some gems.

Hi, just a note to say that I like the blog. Good luck!

Thanks for the comments guys, glad you're enjoying it, good to see you here galejo and Dai :)

To Martin, I would say the Market Wizards book has some really good tips on the psychology side of things. You have to sift through it and read between the lines, but some of these traders are extremely talented between the ears and I have no doubt that's why they are so successful. I'm still researching books to add to the list (thanks galejo for the recommendation). The books I add are ones I have personally read and can recommend - I plan on posting my own review of each on the blog over time and will certainly add more as I finish reading them.

cheers matt.super blog as well.
